Portrait of a Christian Challenge Student

Tue•Jun.09.2009

As a staff we believe that we cannot build everything into a person over four years, but our dream is that any student who is a part of Christian Challenge would:

1. Understand and experience grace through Jesus

2. Solidify a trusting and loving relationship with God

3. Grow more like Jesus in character and lifestyle

4. Take action to advance God’s Kingdom

The Creation Story

Thu•Feb.05.2009

What did the creation story teach them about God?

·       The  supremacy of God

This ran counter to the idea that there were many gods (sun, stars, moon, large creatures).  God is one, not many.  All those other things were created by him.  Deut. 4:15.

Who is your God?

·       The power of God

He created everything and rules over everything.  When he speaks, things happen.  He can handle the challenges of life.  Jer. 32:17, 27.

Can God make any difference in my life?

·       The goodness of God

He prepared a place for humanity and made it good.  Humanity was not an afterthought or something that was made to serve his whims.  It is the crown jewel of his creation, made in his image.  Psalm 8:3-8

Does God really care about me?

·       The sufficiency of God

He takes the initiative to relate to humans.  He does not want them to be alone.  He blesses them.  He provides all they need for life.  Deut. 32:46-47; 2 Peter 1:3

Is God enough?

What kind of God destroys people whom he created?

Matt. 24:36-51 Romans 1:18-32 Galatians 6:7-8 2 Peter 3:1-14

One who exists without beginning (1:1)

One who is one, not many (1:1)

One with power to create out of nothing (1:1)

One who provides a beautiful world that perfectly…
